I have lived in Seattle
for over 20 years. I started
out as a massage practitioner which lead to psychotherapy,
a natural progression for me. My specialties are with
Anxiety and Depression. I explore
family issues, past and present, as they come into the
picture of therapy, while my focus is definitely on the
present. I strive to increase an individual's self awareness
of the influences which have shaped them and their view
of the world. My approach could be categorized as primarily
Cognitive-Behavioral, but I also employ other approaches
as need be. I don’t believe in being a “quiet”
therapist. I think the best therapy is interactive and
we do it together, what I refer to as "co-creative",
leading to new ideas, options for you, and exploring other
ways of restructuring your life. We look at problems,
finding the possible "blind spots" you can't
see for yourself.
I would be happy to email or send you a copy of my disclosure
statement ahead of our first meeting so that you can arrive
with more specific questions about who I am and how I work
as a therapist. Regardless of the theoretical approach
to therapy, the level of your comfortability and trust
of me is paramount to the success of therapy. That's why
I like you to come prepared with questions about how I
work. I find that most people know within the first 10
minutes of us meeting as to whether or not we can work
together.
I am a preferred provider for the following insurance plans: Kaiser Permanente, Aetna, Premera, and Regence.
